Plumbing is something most people don’t think about until there’s a problem. Here are some tips to help you avoid problems with your kitchen drain.
Avoid pouring grease or oil down the drain. When it cools, grease will solidify and you’ll end up with a sticky mess that traps debris and creates a clog that can slow the drain or even clog it.
Never throw food down the drain. Just because it can go through the tiny holes in the drain doesn’t mean it’s okay if food slips through. Make sure to put any food waste down the garbage disposal.
Hit it with hot water. To help flush away those light grease deposits before they can become troublemakers, pour hot water down your drains at least once a week.
Use cold water when running your garbage disposal. This will keep those oils solid so that the disposal can break them up to flush them away.
